Building with stone that have been hand selected from nature has once again become
a lost art. The ability to construct a real masonry fireplace has become rare as well.
The pictures here are of real masonry fireplaces that have been done recently.
The stone masonry fireplace is a main focal point of our homes. We believe they
should not only look spectacular but be highly efficient as well. Our high
efficient wood burning units will heat up to 2400 square feet so if or when you
experience a power outage, you will at least be able to stay warm. The units
themselves are constructed of ¼” plate steel. They have positive locking glass
doors and the glass itself will withstand 1400 degree heat with the use of
ceramic glass. There is a damper control in the stack and a damper control for
outside combustion air that maximizes the burn of the wood and at the same
time stops the draw and use of inside room air for the fire. In most of the old
style fireplaces room air was drawn up the stack and wasted. Room air is drawn
into a lower grill and then heated by the firebox then forced out the upper grill
by gravity feed or in some cases a blower fan. We have an optional hot water
attachment as well for domestic water or in-floor heating. The relief carving on
the one mantle was done by jordanscustom.com.
While log home construction is our primary focus, stone masonry has worked
hand in hand with all of our log structures.
There is over 100 years of stone masonry experience in our family. Alaska
Log Structures 2nd and 3rd generation stone masons Greg and Jason
Anderson continue a tradition of decades of quality work. We provide real
and cultured stone masonry. While there are many styles of fireplaces to
choose from, many you see now are of a generic nature.
We work on new and renovation projects. If you want a new stone masonry
fireplace built from scratch, or perhaps you have an exposed foundation
block wall you would like to have covered with a rock veneer, we will be glad
to look at your project.
